WORK PORTFOLIO

Urban Wildfire Resilience

Project Type:- Futures Thinking (Graduate Project)

Building Resilient Communities

University of Waterloo

In response to the devastating wildfires that swept through Los Angeles County in early 2025, resulting in an estimated $250–275 billion in damages and economic losses, our interdisciplinary team at the University of Waterloo conducted a systems-based analysis to examine the built environment’s and community infrastructure’s vulnerability to wildfires. Leveraging systems thinking and mapping, and archetype analysis, we:

  • Identified key feedback loops influencing fire risk, resilience, and recovery.
  • Mapped leverage points within urban planning, building design, and policy frameworks.
  • Exposed solution gaps to provide a future-focused, systems-level framework to guide more proactive, adaptive, inclusive, and climate-resilient strategies.

Strategic Foresight

Project Type:- Futures Thinking (Graduate Project)

Strategic Solutions for Heat-Challenged Cities

University of Waterloo

As part of a semester-long interdisciplinary project, I collaborated with peers to address the pressing issue of heat-challenged cities. This initiative combined strategic foresight methodologies, environmental and horizon scans, and scenario planning to develop actionable strategies for enhancing urban sustainability and resilience.

This project enhanced my experience in strategic foresight, urban resilience planning, and collaborative problem-solving. It showcases my ability to navigate complex sustainability challenges and develop innovative, actionable solutions that align with long-term goals for sustainable development.

Cities, Systems, Synergy, and Collaboration

Project Type:- Systems Thinking (Graduate)

Strategic Solutions for Urban Sustainability Challenges

University of Waterloo

I worked with a diverse team to explore the systemic nature of urban challenges and the power of collaborative engagement to build a sustainable future. Through comprehensive understanding of the complexities involved in leading change in volatile environments, we were equipped with professional skills necessary to lead collaborative teams in urban sustainability initiatives.

LEED Project Experience

Project Type:- LEED v4 BD+C: NC

Role: LEED Project Manager

Project Name: Roses Co-Working

Company:- Green Living Projects

Project Profile: www.leedonline.com/projects/team/1000043872

The LEED AP BD+C v4 Project Experience with Green Living Projects was designed to help participants master the LEED BD+C for the New Building Construction Rating System. As a LEED Project Manager, I joined a group of peers to go through the entire LEED for New Construction certification process with expert guides who worked on LEED projects. I Gained skill and experience in:

  • Walking a project team through the LEED v4 New Construction Scorecard.
  • Identifying outdoor and indoor water savings with LEED template calculators that led to a 53% and 75% reduction from baseline in indoor and outdoor water demand, respectively.
  • Performing a ‘simple box’ energy model to optimize energy costs that led to a 51.4% EUI reduction below the ASHRAE baseline gained through envelope strategies, HVAC improvements and renewables.
  •  Evaluating material attributes for disclosure and optimization.
  •  Becoming familiar with LEED Online and actual GBCI review comments.
  • Employing construction phase best practices based on lessons learned.

Office Relocation & Renovation

Project Type:- Office Relocation

Role: Project Coordinator

Company:- IFSE

Photo Credit and Building Link: 90 Burnhamthorpe Rd W.

The goal of the office relocation project was to successfully transition IFSE to a space that met the changing needs of work post-COVID with minimal disruption to operations and maximum efficiency. I collaborated with the Director of Finance & Operations and the building team on this move to a hybrid work environment and newly renovated suite within Dream's LEED Gold, BOMA Best Gold, and WELL Health-Safety Rated building, which is en route to Net Zero by 2035.

  • Created an avenue for staff requiring space to work away from home using upholstered equipment and some zero VOC paints to enhance indoor air quality.
  • Reduced office space carbon footprint by 43%, saving on operational energy. Diverted waste from landfills by giving 85% of furniture new homes; We repurposed some in-house, gave others to staff to use for their home offices and the remainder to charitable organizations and used furniture businesses. We also  donated 15% for reuse and recycling through our moving company and Habitat for Humanity.
  • The move resulted in an economic savings of 1.8 M in rental charges over the new lease term, benefiting the triple bottom line.
